The Pro1tek® family is committed to fostering positive changes in our communities, as well as impacting and saving lives. Last year we partnered with a company that has that same heartbeat and vision; Gaurdian Angels Medical Service Dogs is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to filling a critical need for pairing service dogs with recipients who suffer with PTSD, traumatic brain injuries, mobility issues, complications associated with diabetes and seizures, as well as many other critical conditions.
Every dog is individually trained to meet the specific needs of their new owner. This amazing company serves veterans, first responders, and other individuals who daily struggle with various disabilities; the company’s commitment to the recipients of these service dogs is that the pups are never sold but always donated to the individual in need. Last year we partnered with Gaurdian Angels to pair a much-needed service dog with a recipient; Pictured with this blog post is a sweet all black male German Shepherd puppy that our team was able to name Buck.
90% of the recipients of Gaurdian Angels Medical Service Dogs are veterans. The PRO1TEK® family selected to have Buck paired with a veteran. Training starts for these dogs when they are a puppy and can last up to two years before they are placed in their new owner’s home permanently. These service dogs re-establish independence for their owners, help to foster confidence, and without question, forever change the lives for individuals who truly need it most.
This company is not run by volunteers but is managed by professionals and some of the best individuals in the business; they do not receive state or federal funding. “Gaurdian Angels Medical Service Dogs is a national organization that operates entirely on donations from individuals, community groups, foundations and corporate sponsors… The cost to raise, train and pair each dog is approximately $25,000, yet every custom-trained dog is donated to the recipient at no cost.” That is not where the relationship ends either, they maintain in active communication with the recipients of their service dogs in order to continue to help with the challenges these individuals face as well as share in their victories.
